Gandhi’s Message of Non-Violence Honoured in Amsterdam

Representatives of civil society, human rights groups and faith communities met in Amsterdam for a ceremony honouring Mahatma Gandhi, bringing together the Gandhi Global Family and the Church of Scientology Netherlands around Gandhian principles of peace, compassion and respect for human dignity.
The gathering, held at Amsterdam’s Gandhi statue, the event included Ram Mohan Rai, General Secretary of Gandhi Global Family, Scientology representatives and human rights advocates. The meeting opened conversations about future cooperation in human rights education and youth engagement.
The Church of Scientology’s support for human rights education is inspired by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, who encouraged Scientologists to support initiatives advancing fundamental human rights.
Ivan Arjona, Scientology’s representative to the EU, OSCE, Council of Europe and UN, described the Amsterdam meeting as Human Rights an example of civic responsibility across cultures, stressing that knowledge of human rights can help younger generations contribute to peaceful societies.
